‘The Nun’ on a winning streak despite bad reviews
The horror movie ‘The Nun’ has topped the box office in its first weekend, scoring a best for the ‘Conjuring’ franchise. The movie opened to an impressive $5.4 million at the box office on Thursday night, a franchise best for Thursday previews.
According to Forbes, with a huge $53.5 million debut weekend and a $77.5m overseas, the fifth movie in the Conjuring franchise has now earned a whopping $131m worldwide on a $22m budget. So, the New Line release is already a huge hit.
The makers have marketed the film well which might became the reason for making such huge business worldwide. However the movie is not receiving good reviews from the audience.
‘The Nun’ is the latest in the fantastically tiresome and unscary Conjuring franchise, The Guardian stated. Egregiously silly it all gets, The Nun will insist on repeating the franchise’s deadpan mannerism of claiming to be based on documentary truth.
‘The Nun’ can be inconsistent, silly, and predictable, it's also terrifying and atmospheric, with a great monster, phenomenal setting, and likable characters you'll never stop rooting for. It doesn't quite hit the highs of The Conjuring 1 and 2, but it's definitely a fun, scary ride that horror fans will enjoy.
