Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) has again proposed Malaysian government to undertake a joint venture for promotion of Halal Food trade between the both Muslim countries. This offer came from the Senior Vice President FPCCI Khalid Tawab on the occasion of Malaysian Consul General Ismail Mohamad Bkr's visit to FPCCI's head office here on Tuesday.
He said that non-Muslims counties are contributing some 80 percent share of the global Halal Food trade whereas the Muslims states are yet to enhance their mutual volume in this sector. "After in-depth research, the medical experts are suggesting Halal products as good for human health. That is the reason behind increasing consumption of Halal commodities in the world." he said.
Stating Malaysia is one of the best business partners of Pakistan among the Asian countries, Tawab said that both brotherly countries should come forward and enhance the mutual trade volume particularly in the areas of pharmaceutical, construction, fruit and vegetable, and energy sector.
The Malaysian CG on this occasion agreed to undertake the proposed joint venture and to make investment in the fields highlighted by FPCCI office-bearers. He also sought FPCCI's help to resolve issues related issuance of visa with the Pakistani authorities concerned. Elaborating, he said, the Pakistani embassy in Kuala Lumpur takes some 30 days to issue visa for the Malaysian men. This should be cut down to seven days, he demanded. Our embassy issues visa for Pakistanis within seven days after they apply, he said.
He also said that a Malaysian business delegation is visiting FPCCI in May 11 and 12. Traders from the both countries would hold fruitful meetings to enhance trade relations, he hopped. The CG also suggested the business community and local media to keep rolling positive image of Pakistan to attract the foreign investment into the country. Media can play a significant role in building country's soft image in the global community.
