The Pakistan Cricket Board is planning to terminate the 'Big Three' system in International Cricket Council meetings scheduled to be held in the United Arab Emirates city of Dubai next week. Chairman Shahryar Khan will represent the board in Dubai's gathering. In the lead up to it, various other committee meetings, including the council's chief executives' committee meeting, will also take place.
"Currently, the main agenda on the chairman's mind is to discuss an end to the 'Big Three' formula and finalise a new system," board sources said on Thursday.
In 2013, the ICC gave more power to Australia, England and India which drew a lot of criticism from independent stakeholders in cricket.
However, the situation changed when new council Chairman Shashank Manohar said he was unhappy with the system.
Previously, the Pakistan Cricket Board had agreed to the system after the Board of Control for Cricket India promised it would renew cricketing ties with Pakistan and also signed a memorandum of understanding to play six series between 2015 and 2023.
Under the agreement, the first series between Pakistan and India were to be hosted in the United Arab Emirates in December 2015.
However, the plan failed to materialise as the relations between both countries strained further over past few months.
