Children and women are badly affected due to low income, less than one dollar per day. Initiator Human Development Foundation and Badlo Apna Kaal announced to launch child's right campaign by mutual understanding on national and international level to create awareness about child rights. This was announced by President Initiator Rana Asif while addressing a news conference at Karachi Press Club here on Saturday.
In Pakistan, he said, 1.5% children lives on the streets, 90% of these street children are affected by harassment. The total budget of Pakistan is Rs 4.451 trillion and government is spending only Rs 734 billion in education sector, which is only 2.68% of the total Budget.
We demand to increase this percentage and spend atleast 5% on education and government should take steps to eliminate corruption and child labour in Pakistan. He also called for foundation of National and provincial commission for children in Pakistan. Children should be given the right to register 'FIR and we demand to ban child pornography in Pakistan. "We also demand to make laws against corporal punishments in schools and proper implementation of these, laws," he added.
He said NAB and Forensic Audit should investigate the corruption of Sindh Child Protection Unit, adding that government should make a data base of all children present in Pakistan. He said government should give right of identity to every children present in Pakistan, children identity cards should be introduced, there should be ministry of child right on federal and provincial level.
