In order to ensure effective security of hospital staff, Lahore General Hospital administration has acquired services of a retired army Colonel as Chief Security Officer. Moreover, the number of police officials posted at the picket established inside of LGH has also been enhanced from four to 15 guards headed by a sub-inspector.
This was informed by Professor Khalid Mahmood, the principal Post Graduate Medical Institute and LGH while presiding over a meeting, here on Sunday. Professor Khalid Mahmood said that at an emergency meeting of Academic Council, the incident of torture on doctors by the attendants of a patient was severely condemned. The meeting decided to approach senior police officers for the strict action against the responsible of the incident. He said that keeping in view this situation, the number of private security guards is being enhanced in hospital. He further said that ex-Army men, armed guards would be deputed at emergency and other much busy wards to avoid such situation in future. He directed the hospital administration to provide uniforms to the staff performing security duties and also make them duty bound to immediately reach at the troubled area in case of any untoward situation.
Professor Khalid also said that more CCT cameras are being installed in the hospital. He said that AMS and DMS would be duty bound to report to MS about the presence of security guards on daily basis. He also directed to abide by the rule of one patient-one attendant and also the timing of seeing the patients by their attendants. The principal said that SOPs are being prepared with the co-ordination of police high-ups in order to improve the security of the hospital. He also appealed the citizens to keep the patience and decency during treatment being given to their patients as all the patients are equally important for the hospital staff.
