An Accountability court Karachi on Monday deferred indictment of former petroleum minister Dr Asim Hussain in a corruption reference case and adjourned the hearing till May 06 on absence of state counsel. Reference pertaining to illegal allotment, corruption and pocketing commission was heard by an accountability court.
Dr Hussain was to be indicted on Monday in the case; however, it was deferred. The accused requested the court to permit him a visit to UAE embassy for preparation of some documents as according to him, it was crucial for proclaimed offender in the case Abdul Hameed's return from Dubai.
He is needed to sign a few documents to make his return possible, he added. However, the court stated that the plea would be heard today (Tuesday) and adjourned his indictment until May 6. The PPP member, while talking to the media after the hearing, lauded Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) General Raheel Sharif's efforts to end terrorism. He stated that being in jail, he does not know much about current happenings in the country.
