Members of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Friday vowed not to accept Baldev Kumar, the alleged murderer of PTI legislator Sardar Soran Singh as member of the provincial assembly and threatened boycott the administering of his oath in the house. The members of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly were addressing a condolence reference of the provincial assembly to mourn the death of their minority colleague. The session of the officially summoned session of the house began proceedings with Speaker Asad Qaiser in the chair. The day was reserved for paying homage to the late minority legislator.
The legislators including provincial ministers Inayatullah Khan, Habib-ur-Rehman, Shah Farman, Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani, Qalandar Khan Lodhi and Deputy Speaker, Dr Meher Taj Roghani and parliamentary secretary, Dr Haider Ali paid tributes to Late Dr Soran Singh.
Similarly, from opposition benches, Nighat Yasmin Orakzai, Saleem Khan (PPP), Sardar Aurangzeb Nalotha (PML-N), Mufti Fazal Ghafoor, Uzma Khan (JUI-F) also paid tributes to late Soran Singh and declared not to accept his murderer Baldev Kumar as member of the house. The alleged murderer Baldev Kumar, second in the priority list of PTI for minority reserved seats has confessed the murder of the minority legislator to vacate his seat and replace him as member of the provincial assembly.
The members of the house from both treasury and opposition benches have declined to accept him as member of the house and have not only threatened to boycott the occasion of his oath rather have also asked both Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the house to refuse administering oath to him.
The members of the house have also commended the performance of DIG Malakand Region Azad Khan and DPO Buner, Khalid Hamdani for apprehending the alleged murderers in the period of 48 hours and have demanded the conferring of awards on them. Furthermore, the legislators have also demanded the announcement of a relief package for his family. Taking the floor, the senior PTI leader and Provincial Minister for Public Health Engineering (PHE), Shah Farman also declared that PTI is not accepting Baldev Kumar as their member, but looking into how to remove legal hurdles in this regard. He said that in case of compulsion they will have to stage walk out to express their dismay over his notification as MPA.
Similarly, the spokesman of the provincial government, Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani said that the federal government will be approached for amendment in Article 63 and till decision of the court his oath will be delayed. He said that they will even break the quorum to prevent his oath.
KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak also rushed to the provincial assembly and told the house that the provincial government is going to move judiciary to block the issuance of the notification of Baldev Kumar, the alleged murderer of Dr Sardar Soran Singh. The chief minister said that he had consulted the Secretary Law in this regard and said that they will accept him as MPA after getting clearance from the court. He said that the case of the alleged murderer will be referred to Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC).
The chief minister agreed with the contentions of the legislators and said that late Sardar Soran Singh was belonging to a poor family and assured that the provincial government will announce relief package for the bereaved family within next three to four days. Later, the house passed a unanimous resolution demanding of the provincial government for announcement of a relief package for the family of the late minority legislator.
