42 health facilities in different areas of Orakzai Agency have been destroyed in the wave of terrorism since 2009 while 36 of them were still dysfunctional. According to Agency Surgeon, Orakzai Agency, Dr. Mohammad Idrees only 7 health units have been reconstructed under annual development programme (ADP). He said that arrangements for the provision of primary facilities for the phase-wise repatriated temporarily displaced persons (TDPs) have been completed.
He said that during militancy period from 2009 to 2015, a total of 15 basic health units (BHUs), 21 Civil Dispensaries. 5 Community Centres and one Rural Health Centre were either destroyed completely or partially. Out of these facilities, he said 7 had been reconstructed under annual development programme while the remaining 36 were still dysfunctional. Regarding the provision of better health facilities to TDPs repatriating to their native area, he said that on the directives of the Directorate of Services FATA, steps under the supervision of the political administration are being taken to activate these health units.
