Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the schedule of 'PCB-Pepsi Cricket Stars U-16 Two Day Tournament 2016' starting from 7 May, 2016 at Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, Faisalabad, Multan and Gujranwala. As many as 16 regional teams will take part in the tournament. Format of all matches would be of 2 days. The final match would be of 3 days and would be played under PCB rules and regulation according to 2 days domestic playing conditions, a PCB spokesman said.
The 16 regional teams are divided into three pools; Pool-A consists of Karachi, Quetta, Hyderabad, Rawalpindi and Multan would play their pool matches in Karachi, Pool-B consisting of Islamabad, Faisalabad, Peshawar, Abbottabad and Larkana would play their pool matches in Islamabad while Pool-C consisting of Lahore, Sialkot, Dera Murad Jamali, AJK, FATA and Bahawalpur would play their pool matches in Lahore. One top team from each pool will qualify for Pool-D and top two teams from Pool-D will qualify for final. Three matches will be played of Pool-D at Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad, Multan Stadium, Multan and Jinnah Stadium, Gujranwala. The final of the tournament will be played on 1 to 3rd June, 2016 at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
The 16 regional teams participating in this tournament have been selected after completing talent hunt open trials at regional level under the NCA youth development program. The entire program is conducted by PCB in collaboration with PepsiCo International.
