Kulsoom Nawaz's body shifted to Jati Umrah, funeral prayers to be offered today

The body of Kulsoom Nawaz, wife of deposed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif arrived on Friday morning from London and was shifted to Jati Umrah.

The body was transferred to an ambulance directly from the airplane after which it was taken to Sharif Medical City. Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz ( PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif along with other members of the family accompanied the body from London. On Wednesday, Shehbaz and Hamza Sharif arrived in London to bring back the body of Begum Kulsoom.

Nawaz, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (retd) Safdar who were incarcerated were released on parole till September 17. All three were taken to the Sharif Medical City and paid their respects to Begum Kulsoom, local media reported.

The funeral prayers will be offered at Sharif Medical City in the evening, which is adjacent to Jati Umra residence. Islamic scholar Maulana Tariq Jameel will lead the funeral prayers. Members of PML-N, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan will also attend the funeral.

Sons of Nawaz, Hassan and Hussain Nawaz did not come to Pakistan for the funeral prayers and are in London where funerals prayers were already offered on Thursday. Hundreds including former Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Chaudhry Nisar attended the prayers.

Begum Kulsoom passed away on Tuesday afternoon after prolonged illness. She was diagnosed with lymphoma last year and undergoing treatment in London.
