A meeting of the Board of Directors (BoD) of Peshawar Electricity Supply Company (PESCO) was held at the Wapda House, here on Thursday. Chairman, Pesco BoD Malik Muhammad Asad Khan presided over the meeting wherein Company Secretary presented the minutes of the 106th BoD meeting which were later approved after detailed discussions.
During the meeting, measures were discussed to make Pesco a profitable entity. It was also observed that on the earlier recommendations of the BoD, the management has succeeded in reducing line losses, and also increasing recovery of outstanding dues from consumers. The Chairman BoD said that we have to put Pesco on the path of success and profitability and suggested new ideas and proposals to further develop Pesco as a "Consumer Friendly Company".
Chairman BoD also clarified that load-shedding is carried out under the policy of the federal government and Ministry of Water and Power (W&P) and Pesco officials had no say on matters of load-shedding. Less load-shedding is done in areas where losses are few while in areas where losses are high and dues recovery is dismal, load-shedding is high, he added. The Pesco BoD assured full support and cooperation to the provincial government in resolving problems of its consumers and also approved purchase of three transformers each of 40 MV capacity.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Pesco, Anwar Ul Haq Yousafzai also gave a comprehensive presentation before the BOD on Pesco's performance and vowed to take further steps to improve the working of Pesco. CEO Pesco also warned that cutting of power supply from T-off (adda) is not allowed and strict action will be taken against those responsible. Similarly, the public is also being requested to remove kundas, so that they face less load shedding, in their areas, he added.
He also said Pesco employees will have to be more efficient in resolving consumer complaints and emphasised that Pesco employees will have to work with dedication. He said Pesco employees showing dismal performance will be taken to task while employees showing good performance will be rewarded. A number of other managerial and administrative matters on the agenda were also discussed and approved.
