The Met Office on Wednesday forecast very hot and dry weather for the country in the next 24 hours, as most parts of Sindh continued to sizzle with scorching temperature.
Larkana suffered the maximum temperature in the last 24 hours with 51 degrees Celsius followed by Moenjodaro and Jacobabad 50 each, Sibbi, Sukkur, Rahim Yar Khan and Shaheed Benazirabad 49 each, Padidan, Dadu and Rohri 48 each. However, the Office said that dust-storm with chances of light rain-thunderstorm was expected to hit Malakand, Hazara, Rawalpindi and Gujranwala divisions, besides Islamabad and Kashmir during evening/night.
Very hot and dry weather would continue over plain areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhawa, Sukkur, Larkana, Mirpurkhas, Shaheed Benazirabad, Sibbi and Makran divisions, it said. "Low pressure area lies over north Balochistan and its adjoining areas. Continental air would prevail over most parts of the country during next few days," it said. The office alerted the citizens to the very hot and dry weather forecast for the week across the country. "The plain areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhawa, Balochistan and Sindh will be the centre of heat where day temperatures will cross over 45°C and central parts will touch a critical level of 50°C. Temperatures in mountainous areas of Gilgit-Baltistan and AJK will also rise by 4-5°C above average resulting into rapid melting of snow and glaciers," it said.
