Scorching heat continues to batter the country as temperature soared to 52 degrees Celsius in Larkana, the Met Office said on Thursday. The Office forecast mainly very hot and dry weather for most parts of the country in the next 24 hours. It said that very hot weather conditions would continue over plains of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhawa, Sindh and Balochistan.
"Low pressure area lies over north Balochistan and its adjoining areas. Continental air would prevail over most parts of the country during next few days," it said. Other hottest places were Turbat, Jacobabad, Moenjodaro 51 degrees Celsius, each, Sukkur, Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan and Dadu 50 each, Rohri, Padidan, Bhakkar and Kot Addu 49, each, Shaheed Benazirabad, Khanpur, D.G Khan, Shorkot and Noorpurthal 48 each, Mithi, Hyderabad, D.I Khan, Kohat, and Multan 47 each.
The office said that very hot and dry weather during the current week would continue to grip the country. The plain areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhawa, Balochistan and Sindh will be the centre of heat where day temperatures is likely to cross over 45 degrees Celsius and centrals parts will touch a critical level of 50 degrees Celsius. Temperatures in mountainous areas of Gilgit-Baltistan and AJK will also rise by 4-5 degrees Celsius above average resulting into a rapid melting of snow and glaciers, it said.
