The Karachi Port handled 171,998 tonnes of cargo comprising 146,512 tonnes of import cargo and 25,486 tonnes of export cargo including 5,789 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 146,512 tonnes comprised of 47,167 tonnes of containerised cargo; 18,452 tonnes of general cargo; 28,846 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 14,000 tonnes of coal; 2,693 tonnes of animal feed; 6,580 tonnes of fertilizer; 4,003 steel scrap; 1,570 tonnes of sunflower seeds and 52,047 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 25,486 tonnes comprised of 18,439 tonnes of containerised cargo and 7,047 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 5,789 containers comprising of 3,037 containers import and 2,752 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,367 of 20's and 816 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 19 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 518 of 20's and 184 of 40's loaded containers while 682 of 20's and 592 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There was one ship namely Torm Moselle carrying oil tanker sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were three vessels viz. Ginga Hawk, Arietta and Charelle-II carrying oil tanker, coal and general cargo respectively currently at the berths. There were five ships namely Cosco Wellington, MT Shalamar, Tenacity, Charelle-II and Yuan Hang carrying containers, oil tanker, steel and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Friday while another ship namely Wan Hai-503 containers is expected to sail on Saturday.
There were nine vessels viz. Najran, APL Germany, AS Orelia, Mare Tirrenum, Mid Fighter, Chemstar Masa, DL Aster, Intrepid Republic and Athena Triumph carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Friday while five vessels viz. A Idefix, Hyundai Paramount, Positive Star, Resolute and Rickmers Dalian carrying containers, vehicles, cable layer and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 208,234 tonnes comprising 140,828 tonnes of import cargo and 67,406 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 4,210 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 140,828 tonnes includes 51,045 tonnes of diesel oil; 7,102 tonnes of palm oil; 2,556 tonnes of LPG; 8,850 tonnes of sorghum; 14,105 tonnes of chemical; 16,149 tonnes of steel coil and 41,021 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 67,406 tonnes includes 6,391 tonnes of cement; 4,946 tonnes of rice and 56,069 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 4,210 containers comprising of 2,159 containers import and 2,051 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
There were two ships namely CV Mehuin and MV Intrepid Republic carrying containers and chemical sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while four ships namely CV Maersk Salina, CV MSC Rachele, MV Poavosa Wisdom-II and MT Bahra carrying containers, chemical and diesel oil are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eleven vessels viz. CV Maersk Salina, CV MSC Rachele, CV Mehuin, MV Apollo Bulker, MV Poavosa Wisdom-II, MV SC Xiamen, MV Elly, MV Jewel of Dubai, MT BW Boron, MT Globe Tanya and MT Bahra currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, rice, steel coil, general cargo, sorghum, LPG, palm oil and diesel oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as eight ships namely CV Rio Madeira, MV Adventurer-K, MV KM Tokyo, MT Norstar Intrepid, MT Maistros, MT Okyroe, MT Bunga Akasia and MT ST Jean carrying containers, cement, soyabean seeds, furnace oil, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Friday.
There were four vessels viz. CV Rio Madeira, CV Hansa America, MV Adventurer-K and MT Chembulk Westport carrying containers, cement and phosphoric acid expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Friday. There were seven ships namely CV MSC Toronto, MT Plymouth, MT Miastrs, MT Brizo, MT Daffodil, MT Bronia and MT Al-Marzooah carrying containers, diesel oil and furnace oil respectively due to arrive on Friday.
There is one ship namely MV Stanley Park due to arrive on Friday. There are four ships namely CV TG Poseidon, CV MSC Valencia, MV Atlantic Glory and MT Al-Areesh carrying containers, chemical and LNG due to arrive on Saturday. There is one ship namely CV Calidris carrying containers due to arrive on Sunday.
