Czech painter, illustrator and caricaturist Adolf Born, the author of several animated films for children, died aged 85 on Sunday, Czech media said. Exhibiting his works world-wide, Born earned a number of international awards and became the Chevalier (Knight) of the Order of Arts and Letters in France in 2003.
Born was the author of the "Mach and Sebestova" series, which is about two schoolchildren who find a magic phone receiver, and of the animated film "Adventures of Robinson Crusoe, a Sailor from York" (1982).
He illustrated more than 250 books, including a collection of fables by French author Jean de La Fontaine that was published in France in 2000.
