The country's army has shown its serious concerns over the US drone strike in Balochistan. In a meeting with United States Ambassador to Pakistan David Hale on Wednesday, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif said that such acts of sovereignty violations are detrimental to relations between both countries and are counter-productive for ongoing peace process for regional stability. According to ISPR, during the meeting, the situation arising after the US drone strike in Balochistan on May 22 came under discussion.
General Raheel said that Pakistan's efforts, successes and sacrifices in fight against terrorism are unparalleled.
After the strike and reported death of the Taliban leader, the Prime Minister and Army Chief of Pakistan were informed of the attack.
Earlier, the Foreign Office in a statement had expressed anger over an uninformed attack. The statement stopped short of officially claiming Mansour's death on the Pakistani soil by stating that authorities are collecting evidence to verify the claims by Washington and Kabul.
Two people were killed in the attack- a driver Muhammad Azam and another person, whose identity is being verified on the basis of evidence found at the site of the incident and other relevant information.
