With its latest update, Google Translate is now able to translate texts for iOS users without an internet connection. To make this possible, the company has made a series of language packs available for download for the iOS app.
The app supports 52 languages for offline translations, such as major European languages as well as Russian, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese and Hebrew.
Google has also added Chinese support to Word Lense, a feature that allows texts recorded through the camera to be translated directly on the screen.
Meanwhile Android users, who already enjoy a similar offline functionality, have now been provided with a new tap to translate function, which allows users to perform quick, on-the-fly translations within other apps.
