The Karachi Port handled 177,588 tonnes of cargo comprising 135,414 tonnes of import cargo and 42,174 tonnes of export cargo including 6,429 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 135,414 tonnes comprised of 47,765 tonnes of containerised cargo; 7,984 tonnes of general cargo; 50,665 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 40,328 tonnes of coal; 7,002 tonnes of food grains; 3,335 tonnes of soyabean meal and 29,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 42,174 tonnes comprised of 29,836 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2 tonnes of general cargo; 10,936 tonnes of total bulk cargo 7,936 tonnes of loose bulk cement; 3,000 tonnes of talcum powder and 1,400 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 6,429 containers comprising of 3,475 containers import and 2,954 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 1,235 of 20's and 993 of 40's loaded while 96 of 20's and 79 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 712 of 20's and 610 of 40's loaded containers while 246 of 20's and 388 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were seven ships namely Anke, MSC Lana, Bright World, Golden Denise, Maple Express, Maria and Soldoy carrying containers, oil tankers, steel and coal respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were eight vessels viz. Ital Laguna, Seadream, Ponente, Golden Denise, Leapord, Al Jalaa, Dubai Ambassador and Soldoy carrying containers, oil tankers and coal respectively currently at the berths.
There were three ships namely Taroko, APL Pearl and Liberty carrying containers and coal respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday. There were seven vessels viz. Hyundai Highness, MOL Dedication, Wan Hai-511, Nord Sakura, Milos, Alam Mutiara and Han Peng carrying containers, oil tankers, coal and project cargo respectively due to arrive on Wednesday while another vessel viz. Uni Prudent carrying containers is due to arrive on Thursday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 98,228 tonnes comprising 76,378 tonnes of import cargo and 21,850 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 3,073 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The total import cargo of 76,378 tonnes includes 19,430 tonnes of furnace oil; 500 tonnes of diesel oil; 13,400 tonnes of palm oil; 4,865 tonnes of soyabean; 1,646 tonnes of LPG and 36,537 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo includes 21,850 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 3,073 containers comprising of 1,923 containers import and 1,150 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. There was one ship namely MT Tomson Gas carrying LPG sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while another ship namely CV Maersk Memphis carrying containers is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of nine vessels viz. CV ER Vancouver, CV Maersk Memphis, CV CMA CGM La Traviata, CV Al-Safat, MV KM Tokyo, MT Shalamar, MT Tomson Gas, MT Bunga Akasia and MT Beech Galaxy currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, soyabean seeds, palm oil, diesel oil, LPG and LNG respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as six ships namely CV Maersk Savannah, CV Al-Hadbaa, MV Ikan Bawal, MV Intuition, MV Diamond Sea and MT Bunga Alamanda carrying containers, soyabean seeds, canola seeds, cement and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Wednesday.
There were three vessels viz. CV Maersk Savannah, CV MSC Rita and MV Soldoy carrying containers and coal expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Iron Ore & Coal Berth respectively on Wednesday. There were thirteen ships namely CV Washington, CV MSC Lisbon, CV MSC Tomoko, MT Al-Jalaa, MT Plymouth, MT Brizo, MT Daffodil, MT Bronia, MT Al-Marzooah, MT Okyroe, MT Karachi, MT Asmaa and MV Tian Shou carrying containers, crude oil, diesel oil, furnace oil and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Wednesday. There is one ship namely CV CMA CGM Maupassant carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday.
