Anti-hoarding petition: Punjab government told to reply by June 21

The Punjab government is told to file a response by June 21 in connection with a petition against rising prices during Ramadan. The Chairman of the Judicial Activism Panel, Muhammad Azhar Siddique, who has forwarded the petition, argues the prices of daily commodities are required to be nominal, but "culprits who are actively involved in hoarding and blackmailing are responsible for the prices hike".
He argues that every year this time the prices go high and to avoid hardship for the common man the government ought to control the prices. He has also asked the court to tell the industries secretary to communicate to the court the mechanism by which his government will be checking the prices.
