Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner of Quetta on Wednesday warned of profiteers of taking action against them under 1977-13 Regulation Price Control Act if they would not follow Price Control List announced by the government for the holy month of Ramazan.
Talking to APP here, Commissioner Quetta division, Qamber Dashti and Deputy Commissioner Quetta, Daud Khan Khilji said that they had received information that some shopkeepers were not following the government Price Control List and warned: "The district management will take action against shopkeepers and traders found in profiteering and hoarding under Section 1977-13 Regulation Price Control Act."
They said that the district management had issued the government price lists of edible items and commodities for the holy month of Ramazan. "The Rate List issued by the Chairman District Price Control Committee who is also Deputy Commissioner Quetta is implemented in District Quetta and Quetta Cantonment with immediate effect," they said.
They said that the government was ensuring sale of edible items and all commodities at controlled price to facilitate faithful during the holy month. They said that they had set prices of edible items and commodities in the price list which were as below flour 20 kg bag at Rs 720, flour 50 kg bag at Rs 1778, ghee Dalda per kg at Rs 135, ghee local brand per kg at Rs 117, oil local brand per kg at Rs 135, rice basmati per kg at Rs 122, rice basmati tota supreme per kg at Rs 95, rice sila per kg at Rs 113, pulse chana per kg at Rs 122, white gram (chana) per kg at Rs 131, pulse moong per kg at Rs 167, pulse mash per kg at Rs 234, pulse masoor per kg at Rs 122, milk at dairy farm (buffalo) per kg at Rs 80, milk (buffalo) at shop per kg at Rs 84, yogurt per kg at Rs 88, beef with bone per kg at Rs 300, beef without bone per kg at Rs 390, mutton per kg at Rs 575, pulse chana powder (baisan) per kg at Rs 130, pakora per kg at Rs 170 and single tandori bread 190 gram at Rs 10.
They said that special teams headed by Assistant Commissioner Sadar, Assistant Commissioner City and Special Magistrates had been visiting bazaars, markets and shops to check the sale of commodities at government controlled rates. They said that during the surprise visits of officials of the district management, some shopkeepers were found involved in profiteering and hoarding and selling out items at prices while violating government price list, adding that such profiteers and hoarders had been taken into custody and action was being taken against them in accordance with law.
"Our teams have been visiting bazaars and markets on daily basis to check the sale of commodities at the government controlled prices," they said. The Commissioner Quetta said that they had also set up a complaint cell at Deputy Commissioner Office Quetta where common people could lodge their complaints regarding violation of the government price list in any area and added the district management had been immediately responding to the complaints and taking action in this regard.
