District administration arrested 82 persons in crackdown against profiteers in different bazaars of the city in Ramazan. The arrested profiteers were included butchers, milk sellers, fruit & vegetable sellers and grocers and will be dealt as per law of the province. According to details, soon after the fall of Ramazan, the officials of the district administration visited different bazaars in garb of common citizens as shopkeepers were used to close their shops on entering into bazaars to foil the purpose of the checking.
Therefore, the officials of district administration changed its policy and now they are monitoring bazaars in garb of common citizens, which is proving useful. In such an operation, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Irshad Sodher along with Assistant Commissioner (AC) Altaf Sheikh, AC UT Mugees Sanaullah and Additional Assistant Commissioners (AACs), Anwar-ul-Haq and Fazilat Jehan conducted joint raids at Hayatabad, Hashtnagri, Karimpura and G.T. Road and arrested 15 profiteers. Similarly, AAC Imran Khan conducted raids in Board Bazaar and Tehkal and arrested 15 persons while AAC Abdul Nabi arrested 12 profiteers from Faqirab ad and Paharipura areas.
