Punjab Minister for Minority Affairs & Human Rights Khalil Tahir Sindhu has said that Punjab government has made elaborate arrangements for providing economic relief to the consumers during the holy month of Ramazan under which essential commodities were being provided on specially reduced and controlled prices in Ramazan Bazaras. He stated this while visiting the Ramazan Bazaars working in different areas in the city. AC Sadar Rafia Haider, TMO Mian Nadeem Anwar, Emanual Ghouri, Jozeph Khokhar and others were present on the occasion.
The Minister interacted with the consumers and asked from them about the benefits and arrangements of Ramazan Bazaars. He said special Ramazan Package worth of Rs 5 billion was being implemented announced by Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif for the welfare of common man. He went to Ramazan Bazaar at Riaz Shahid Chowk, Millat Road and other localities and visited stalls of vegetables, fruits and grocery items.
He examined the quality of essential commodities and their prices and directed the duty staff for making special arrangements to maintain the freshness of vegetables and fruits. He inspected the Sasti Sugar stalls and observed the sale process. He also checked the rate of the flour bags and said the weighing scales should be checked regularly.
The Minister checked the record of complaint centre and medical camps and directed that the people complaints should immediately be redressed and the arrangements of Ramazan Bazaars should be maintained as complaint free. He appreciated the efforts of district administration for successful holding of Ramazan Bazaars and asked the Price Control Magistrates to take strict actions against profiteers for curbing the trend of price hike in the general market.
AC Sadar Rafia Haider informed that total numbers of 19 Ramazan Bazaars were working in the district and being supervised by the duty officers for maintaining arrangements. She informed about the facilities being provided in the Ramazan Bazaars and said that special arrangements had been made for the comfort of senior citizens, disables and women consumers besides setting up complaint centre, medical camps and installation of CCTV Cameras for security purpose.
