The government of Pakistan has initiated verification of the statistics of benefits achieved due to US assistance from the financial year 2009 to 2017. The step has been taken after the observations of Larry Sampler, Assistant to the Administrator in the Office of Afghanistan and Pakistan Affairs (OAPA), who has briefed the Asia Pacific Subcommittee on US Assistance for Afghanistan and Pakistan.
During the congressional hearing on US Assistance to Pakistan it was also revealed that since 2009, USAID's investment in Pakistan's energy sector had been equivalent of about 2,300 MW of electricity, benefiting over 26 million Pakistanis.
In the same period the USAID has claimed helping tens of thousands of Pakistani's SMEs across new markets. To date, it claimed that the USAID's projects had resulted in the US $15 billion increase in sales of agriculture, and manufactured goods and also include US $58.7 million in increased exports of targeted commodities and directly supporting 911,000 rural households.
Similarly, Larry Sampler also claimed that since 2009, USAID had constructed or rehabilitated over 1000 schools, improving education access for over 110,000 children while in 2015, the White House's Let Girls Learn Initiative helped improved lives of more than 200,000 Pakistani.
The Ministry of Finance, Economic Affairs Division, Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and Ministry of Inter-Provincial Co-ordination (IPC) and Capital Development Administration (Development Division) had been asked for the verification of the figures in the light of on ground development in Pakistan.
