Mautahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Thursday staged a protest demonstration in front of Election Commission's provincial office against the postponement of elections of mayor, deputy and chairman and vice-chairmen of district and tehsil councils. The protestors, carrying placards and banners, raised slogans against the election commission for postponing the election.
Mautahida Qaumi Movement 's candidates for Karachi mayor, deputy mayor, district chairmen and vice chairmen and other Mautahida Qaumi Movement activists attended the demo. Mautahida candidate for Karachi mayorship Waseem Akhtar announced that the matter will be challenged in the court. Election Commission do not want that the local government system was completed and made functional, he added.
