A successful anti-smuggling operation of the customs staff at Benazir Bhutto International Airport resulted in recovery of 140-kg of pork meat from a Chinese passenger. Sources told Business Recorder here on Thursday that on arrival of a flight of a Chinese airline at Benazir Bhutto International Airport, a female Chinese passenger was intercepted who was carrying two different packets of 60-kg and 80-kg of meat. During scanning of the packets, the customs staff suspected that it contained pork meat. The passenger made a hue and cry but the customs confirmed that it is pork meat. The customs has seized the consignment and initiated action.
Another action of Model Customs Collectorate Islamabad Thursday resulted in seizure of 560 mobile phones from Khyber mail- a daily express train between Karachi and Peshawar in Pakistan.
