Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Food Haji Qalandar Khan Lodhi and Provincial Secretary Food Asmatullah Khan Gandapur in order to review the rates and quality of daily use edible items visited the Bilal, Basharat, Zahid and Yousafzai Markets at Phase I, II and III Hayatabad Peshawar.
The minister along with Food department team conducted surprise raids on Seven Eleven Store, Faisal Super Store, Sweet Palace Bakers, Mushtaq Tea Store, Shah Super Store, Bakers Milk, vegetable and fruit shops and imposed fine on their owners from Rs 5 to 20 thousand each in lieu of overcharging and selling low quality material. The minister ordered for sealing the shops of those who left their shops and escaped from the scene on the arrival of food department team. The secretary Food directed the staff concerned to continue checking process during the month of Ramadan in Peshawar and other districts of province and make hectic efforts to curb the menace of artificial price hike.
