A delegation of Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry led by Mian Atta Shafi Tanvir Senior Vice President visited Model Police station of the cantonment Old Kotwali praised the matchless chivalry and gallant of police performance against criminals. They were invited by Regional Police Officer Sultan Azam Taimoori. The delegation comprised on Ex-presidents of MCCI Mian Anis Ahmed Sheikh, Khawaja Muhammad Usman, Mirza Ali Ahmed, Sheikh Fazal Elahi, and Mian Shafi Anis.
CPO Multan Azhar Akram received them and later briefed them about the newly introduced front desk at police station and other facilities available there, such as computerised registration of complaint, reply of complaint through SMS to the complainants, Command and Control Centre, waiting room for the general public. The Model Police Station is a symbol of protection and honour for a man, where services revolve around the people. The officers of Model Police Station are responsible to protect the life, property and liberty of people with the aim "Live to serve".
The Punjab government took comprehensive steps to change "thana" culture, uphold the principles of rule of law and natural justice, put maximum effort to set up a crime free society by promoting the concept of community policing to develop mutual confidence among the people and police force and tried to weed out impurities from "thana" culture. Establishment of front desks at Model Police Stations will alleviate the Public complaints and improve the performance of Punjab police which would helpful to become symbol of help and protection of the oppressed and the outlaws could be taken to task, said CPO Multan Azhar Akram.
The buildings of Model Police Stations have been designed, especially in which substantial arrangements have been made for the process of investigations through modern gadgetry and computer technology. Police officials having professional abilities have been posted in these police stations so that mutual confidence among the people and police could be promoted by changing traditional "thana" culture.
