The US Department of Agriculture's weekly crop progress report on Monday is expected to show a decline in corn and soyabean condition ratings following a week of above-average temperatures in the Midwest, a Reuters poll of analysts showed.
The USDA should rate 73 percent of the corn crop as good to excellent, down from 75 percent the previous week, according to the average estimate of 11 analysts. Estimates ranged from 72 percent to 74 percent as good to excellent.
For soyabeans, analysts on average expected the USDA to rate 73 percent of the crop as good to excellent, down from 74 percent a week earlier. Soyabean estimates ranged from 71 percent to 74 percent as good to excellent. The average estimate of soyabean planting progress was 97 percent, with estimates ranging from 95 to 98 percent. The crop was 92 percent planted by June 12, USDA said in its last report. Corn planting was completed earlier this month. For spring wheat, analysts expected the government to rate 79 percent of the crop as good to excellent, unchanged from the previous week.
