Noor Zaman upset current champion Asad Ullah in the marathon five sets final of the Under-13 category of the PAF Squash Academy League-2016 played here at PAF Hashim Khan Squash Complex on Thursday. Director Sports Group Captain Asghar Awan, Director PAF Sports Control Committee, was the chief guest on this occasion. Chief Referee Pakistan Squash Federation Munawar Zaman, Flt. Lieutenant Inam Ur Rehman, care taker of the Academy, Academy coaches were also present.
The final was started with the fast tempo and Asad Ullah took the first two sets by 10-12 and 9-11 but Noor Zaman staged a strong come and won three consecutive sets by 12-10, 11-9 and 12-10. Noor Zaman played and did not give much time to Asad Ullah to strike back. Noor Zaman have good nick and drop shorts with some lengths and cross courts smashes were also witnessed.
"It was hard to come back but I played with determination and despite losing first two sets I consecutively won three sets and the match," Noor Zaman told APP in a post match talks. Asad Ullah on this occasion said that it was a bad day today as I won the first two sets but failed to click and thus Noor won the final. In the Under-11 category current Under-11 champion Muhammad Ammad faced tough resistance against Huzaifa in the 3-2 battle, the score was 12-10, 9-11, 12-10, 9-11 and 11-9. Muhammad Ammad won the first set by 12-10 but failed to click in the second and fourth sets. Huzaifa also played well and did not give much chance to Muhammad Ammad to play with free hands.
In the Under-15 category Uzair Shoukat defeated Rashid Daulat in a one-sided affairs, the score was 11-5, 11-7 and 11-6 and in the Under-17 category Abbas Zeb, the current Under-17 Champion beat Saif Ullah by 3-0, the score was 11-9, 12-10 and 11-8 while in the senior category Abbas Shoukat beat Safeer by 3-0, the score was 11-8, 11-7 and 11-6.
