Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Iqbal Zafar Jhagra said that incumbent government will never take any decision against wishes and will of the tribesmen, saying that decision would be taken in light of unanimous opinions and views, given by tribal people. When asked to comment on report of Fata Reforms Committee, he declined to give any response on this particular report. He said that it would be premature to say anything pertaining to administrative structure in Fata, prior to finalization of report to formal submit before the Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif.
The Governor was talking to media persons during visit to tehsil Landi Kotal, tribal Khyber Agency. Senator Momin Khan Afridi, political Agent, Khyber Agency Khalid Mehmood, other officials, tribal elders, maliks and civil society members were also present on the occasion.
KP Governor further stated that development work had been initiated following the restoration of peace in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata). He disclosed that that repatriation of Temporary Displaced Persons (TDPs) would be completed by the end of this year, adding that the government would strive hard to provide every possible facility to TDPs on their returns.
"Pakistan has ultimate desired to returns Afghan refugees in dignified manner to their hometowns in Afghanistan. For this purpose, the World Community should announce attractive package for them so that they can serve their lives with honour in their home towns, Jhagra remarked. Replying to a query, the governor said that government has not imposed any restriction on entrance of Afghan citizens to Pakistan. However, he said that it was imperative to streamline and legalize the entire process on bordering area. The aim to restricting undocumented Afghan citizens means to curtain infiltration of anti-social element from crossing into Pakistan, he explained.
Paying the rich tribute to the sacrifices rendered by the security forces, and tribesmen, Jhagra said that during the backbone of militants had been broken due to successful military operations in tribal region. He also offered prayers for the departed soul of Major Ali Jawad Changaizi who had embraced martyrdom last month in firing with Afghan forces at Torkham border and announced Rs 0.5 million for deceased family.
Jhagra has given compensation cheque to heirs of 72 Khasadars, Levies and civilians who had killed and wounded in different incidents in the tribal Khyber Agency. The governor also inaugurated Landi Khana water supply scheme, which would be completed in one year, at cost of Rs 220 million that would facilitate 80 per cent population of tehsil Landi Kotal, of the Khyber Agency.
