High alert at rain emergency centres

In view of the forecast for a new spell of torrential rains, a high alert has been issued at the rain emergency centres at District Municipal Corporation (DMC) Karachi South. An official said on Sunday that this has been done to meet any eventuality in the wake of heavy rains and timely redressal of public complaints as well as draining out of accumulated water. It was pointed out that officers and the field staff as well as the required machinery would be available at the rain emergency centres.
The emergency control room is functioning round-the-clock at the head office of DMC South near Haqqani Chowk. The phone numbers are: 99211390 and 99211429.
Administrator South Naeem Sindhu has already cancelled the holidays of officers and staff.
