Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) on Tuesday announced results of Secondary School Certificate Examination, 2016 with a passing percentage of over 74 percent.
In total, 63,711 regular candidates appeared in the examination out of which 58,081 were declared successful showing passing percentage of 91.61 percent whereas the number of private and ex-candidates, who appeared in the examination, was 19,183 out of which 7809 candidates were declared as successful. The overall passing percentage of regular, private and ex-candidates remained at 74.71 percent.
Female students succeeded in clinching overall first three positions in the Board.
Manaal Amir of Army Public School Peshawar secured first position with 1032 marks in Science Group whereas Areej Sajjad of Fauji Foundation College for Girls, New Lalazar Rawalpindi, Cant stood first in Humanities Group securing 985 marks. Speaking on this occasion, Minister of State for Federal Education and Profession Training Muhammad Baleeg-ur-Rehman congratulated the students and said that all the successful candidates particularly position holders should be encouraged. We should also appreciate and encourage those students who could not get through the exams this year, said the Minister adding that they should do hard work and reappear for the exams.
The minister said that better boards systems, better exams settings and better exams' checking system lead to a better overall Education System. Therefore more focus should be given on quality of education in Pakistan, he added.
He said that the federal government will introduce a new education policy in consensus with all the provinces to meet the requirements of the contemporary needs.
