The Karachi Port handled 148,031 tonnes of cargo comprising 136,185 tonnes of import cargo and 11,846 tonnes of export cargo including 4,501 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 136,185 tonnes comprised of 36,493 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,992 tonnes of general cargo; 40,206 tonnes of total bulk cargo and 57,494 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 11,846 tonnes comprised of 6,166 tonnes of containerised cargo; 200 tonnes of general cargo and 5,480 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 4,501 containers comprising of 2,470 containers import and 2,031 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 825 of 20's and 817 of 40's loaded while 5 of 20's and 3 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 111 of 20's and 106 of 40's loaded containers while 574 of 20's and 567 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were three ships namely Hyundai Freedom, MT Quetta and Daewoo Diamond carrying containers, oil tanker and chemical respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were three vessels viz. OOCL Italy, A Idefix and ER Bornholm carrying containers and coal respectively currently at the berths. There was one ship namely SC Liaoning carrying oil tanker sailed out to sea on Friday while another ship namely New Lotus carrying DAP is expected to sail on Sunday.
There were five vessels viz. Hyundai Bangkok, Najran, SC Liaoning, Xiu Chi and MT Karachi carrying containers and oil tankers respectively due to arrive on Friday while seven vessels viz. Osaka Tower, Pacific Ace, Pine-1, Deneb Leader, Liberty Pride, Han Li and Rowan-3 carrying containers, soyabean meal, railway engine, vehicle and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.
There are four ships namely CV Mehuin, MT Bochem Singapore, MT Maran Gaztroy and MT Truk Gas carrying containers, furnace oil and LPG expected to sail on Friday afternoon. A total number of seven vessels viz. CV Northern Jamboree, CV Mehuin, MV Fast, MV Tai Progress, MT Bochem Singapore, MT Maran Gaztroy and MT Lion-M currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, soyabean seeds, chemical, LNG and furnace oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as one ship namely CV San Francisco carrying containers was at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Friday. There were four vessels viz. CV San Francisco, CV Globe Tanya, MT Tomson Gas and MT Truk Gaz carrying containers, LPG and palm oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Friday. There is one ship namely MV Rowan-3 carrying general cargo due to arrive on Friday. There were four ships namely CV MSC Texas, CV Nicoline Maersk, MV Yangze-6 and MV ER Bilbao carrying containers and coal respectively due to arrive on Sunday.
