To ensure the smooth flow of traffic in Peshawar city and Hayatabad, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak has announced the construction of two flyovers at Zakori Chowk and Hayatabad. The projects will cost an amount of Rs 2 billion and directed the concerned quarters for finalization of arrangements for inauguration of work on them during next month.
He issued these directives while presiding over a high-level meeting here in CM's Secretariat. Besides, Senior Minister, Inayatullah Khan, Chief Secretary, Amjad Ali Khan, Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Azam Khan, Secretary Local Governments, Director Generals (DGs), Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) and NESPAP, NLC and other concerned authorities were also present on the occasion.
The chief minister directed that the provincial government had already planned the operation of Metro Service in Peshawar. Therefore, he directed the designing of both projects in such a manner that will not create hurdle in the route of the Metro Service. He also directed the acquisition of land and suitable incentives for the affected people of both projects.
The chief minister further directed the participants for planning more such projects of public importance, saying that the target of the overall efforts is turning Peshawar into a model city.
On this occasion, the chief minister also directed the abolition of encroachments from the city and making of no compromise in this connection. He also ordered the repairing of Bara Road and preparation of its expansion plan in consultations with stakeholders. He also stressed need for conducting survey of the area so decision could be taken in larger interest of the people. He also directed the conducting of survey of Dalazak Road and preparation of a plan for its beautification.
Similarly, he also ordered initiating steps for the beautification of Assembly Bridge and Peshawar city and accelerating pace of work of work on Warsak Road and Nasir Bagh and their development on the pattern of expressway.
Meanwhile, the chief minister has also directed the constitution of a joint team headed by Provincial Minister for Education, Mohammad Atif for selection of land for Women Cadet College in Mardan.
The team was asked to visit the site of the present Women University, Agriculture University and other suitable sites and select suitable site to ensure timely start of construction work on the college.
