A number of 50 addicts of heroin were arrested from Bacha Khan Chowk, Sher Shah Soori Bridge during a joint operation of district government and administration. The operation was conducted on the directives of District Nazim, Peshawar, Mohammad Asim Khan while taking notice of increasing number of addicts under Mufti Mahmood Flyover, Firdous Pattak and other areas and directed district social welfare officer for conducting survey and present report to him.
The joint teams of district government and administration comprising Deputy Commissioner (DC), Peshawar, Riaz Khan Mehsud, Assistant Commissioner (AC), Altaf Sheikh, Additional Assistant Commissioners (AACs), Mahmood Ahmad and Sohail Aziz, Social Welfare Officer, Jehanzeb Khan, District Councillors Raza Mohammad Khan, Hazrat Gul, Tahir Zarin, Naveed Khan, Iftikhar Ahmad, Wasim Akram and Project Manager, Dost Foundation conducted operation and arrested 50 addicts at Bacha Khan Chowk, Mufti Mahmood Flyover, Sher Shah Soori Bridge, Firdous Railway track. After clearing the area of the heroin addicts, Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) was directed to deploy staffers on permanent basis on these spots to prevent addicts from occupying the space.
