Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pervez Khattak has said that investors contribute to the provincial exchequer by paying various taxes, and therefore the provincial government is planning lodging facilities for them at the Pakhtunkhwa House in Peshawar. He said, his government was keen on providing favourable and lucrative investment opportunities and boosting investor confidence.
CM Khattak said this to a seven member delegation of Pakistani investors from the US who called on him at the CM House today, who took keen interest in investing in the health, tourism and other sectors in KP. Also present on the occasion were Speaker KP Assembly Asad Qaiser, Senior Minister for Health Shahram Tarakai, Advisor to CM Abdul Munim, Parliamentary Secretary Dr Haider Ali and other concerned officials. The Chief Minister said the KP government is working on plans to launch its own insurance company to safeguard foreign investments in the province. He told the delegation that the KP government has planned a health insurance scheme for the poor and a health card for government employees was also in the offing.
He said, his government was planning to outsource the health sector as it is a prerequisite to an efficient healthcare system. The tertiary healthcare was now totally autonomous and headed by a board, but still there are many shortcomings in the health sector and we would gradually overcome these and later this scheme would be implemented at the tehsil level, and for this purpose his government encourages participation of the private sector for diagnostic facilities he said, and for this the KP government was currently recruiting 1,100 doctors to ensure availability of doctors at all hospitals across the province, he added.
He spoke of industrial units of the province that manufactured and supplied goods to Afghanistan but, due to an unfavourable environment in Afghanistan these industries dried down and therefore, we are making hectic efforts to revive all such small, medium and large scale industrial units in Rashkai, Hattar, Jalozai, Ghazi, Dera, Bannu, Swat and other place by providing favourable opportunities to investors and also building new industrial zones.
