A divisional bench of the Lahore High Court sought details of construction of a monument Baba-e-Pakistan in Lahore within one month. The court passed this order in an Intera Court Appeal (ICA) filed by leader of opposition in Punjab Assembly Mian Mahmood-ur-Rashid against the decision of a single bench of the august court.
Earlier Sheraz Zaka on behalf of the petitioner argued that sixty percent construction of Bab-e-Pakistan was completed by Amjad Mukhtar Associates Limited. He said, now after twenty six years the construction is being demolished for modifications in the designing. He said that the government is also awarding contract to some other consultant. A law officer raised objection that the ICA filed against the order of single bench is time barred.
Sheraz Zaka however replied that the time taken to obtain certified order is to be excluded from limitation period for filing of appeal. The bench observed that this question of limitation would also be settled once for all in this ICA and rose for the day.
