"Pakistan will float tenders for an Iranian gas transmission line after receiving a green signal from Washington," Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi told Business Recorder /here on Monday.
To a number of questions raised by this correspondent Abbasi said, "sanctions against Iran are not fully lifted".
He said the government is waiting for two conditionalities which Iran has to meet; a) strict implementation of Iran''s civil nuclear treaty with the US and EU; and b) no snap back from its treaty with Europe and the United States".
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said, "lately I visited the US snd our government is in touch with the US administration over this issue and secondly Iran itself is doing hard lobby in different capitals for its export of gas to Pakistan".
Abbasi said that "since the import of gas from Iran involves dollar we have to honour international treaties and covenants".
He said "Iran is no doubt exporting its oil to China, India and other countries but that deal only takes place on Cash On Delivery basis".
Referring to price mechanism, the minister said, "we had determined a price mechanism in our 2010 agreement with Iran."
The agreement upon its implementation will last for 3 years starting from 250mmcf to 750mmcf".
