The action of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif transferring Principal of the Post-graduate Medical Institute (PGMI) and suspension of Medical Superintend Lahore General Hospital (LGH), duty Assistant Medical Superintendent, has spread alarm among managements of different public sector hospitals in the provincial metropolis.
Although action has been taken on account of lack of medical facilities provided to patients in the LGH, but major reason is cited as poor cleanliness and sanitation arrangements in the hospital.
During surprise visit to the LGH Shahbaz said, "Those who are negligent and do not have the spirit of service to ailing humanity have no right to stay on their posts."
Under-treatment patients and their attendants informed the Chief Minister during visit to the LGH that the sanitation arrangements are not satisfactory and the date for the operation is also given with delay.
Shahbaz Sharif inspected various washrooms of the hospital and expressed indignation on bad condition of washrooms and poor cleanliness situation.
On Tuesday, top officials of different hospitals visited wash rooms of their respective hospitals and ensured proper cleanliness. Management of hospitals have also assigned special duties in this regard.
The new Principal of the Postgraduate Medical Institute Prof Ghias un Nabi Tayyab after taking charge of his office said that ensuring discipline, improvement in health service delivery and neat and clean environment are his priorities.
