Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Senior Minister for Local Government and Rural Development Inayatullah has said that the powers of recruitment for vacancies above BPS-11 have been shifted to Public Service Commission (PSC) while appointment on the vacancies of Village Council Secretaries and below grade 11 has been made in a transparent way through NTS.
He expressed these views while addressing the concluding ceremony of the two-month training given to the newly recruited engineers, accountants and officers of administrative cadre comprising Provincial Unified Group of Functionaries (PUGF) of the Local Government Department. Secretary Local Government Syed Jamaluddin Shah, Secretary Local Council Board Syed Zafar Ali Shah, Director Local Governance School Barkatullah Khattak, high ranking officers of Local Government Department and male and female trainee officers were present on the occasion.
The senior minister said these steps would not only be helpful in recruiting qualified staff in the department but would also enhance the performance of the department, on one hand, and would also ensure the availability of basic facilities in a better way to the people, on the other hand.
He said in order to give quick promotion to the engineers, accountants and officers, officials of administrative cadres group (provincial unified group of functionaries) and to increase their professional capabilities, the employees have been provided service structure while for the service structure of non-PUGF staff, the services of consultant have been hired with the assistance of German Development Organisation (GIZ).
He said due to the good governance of the present government, the revenue generated by the department has increased up to 73%. The Senior Minister called upon the officers who had completed their training to perform their duties efficiently and honestly so as to make the Local Government Department a people-friendly department. He stressed to institutionalise the training of officers of Local Government Department and arrange training for in-service officers so that their capacity building could effectively be increased. Senior provincial Minister also directed to include a new Hall having all the modern facilities at Local Governance School Hayatabad as a non ADP scheme. Later, the senior minister distributed certificates among male and female officers completing their training.
