The government and private schools were reopened in Punjab on Monday after two and a half months long summer vacations but with thin attendance. The annual summer break is usually observed in schools from June 1 to August 14 However, this time because of harsh weather conditions the Punjab government had announced early summer vacation starting from May 24.
The private sector education institutions usually do not follow the government's schedule so some private schools will reopen in the last week of August. There were rumours that because of the security situation the reopening of schools might be delayed. However, all the educational institutes reopened on Monday according to the announced schedule.
