Blue Veins is implementing the project "Strengthening District Bar Associations and setting up Facilitation Kiosks in District Court" Peshawar in collaboration with District Bar Association under Gender Equity Program (GEP) of Aurat foundation supported by USAID has organized and conducted one day training for lawyer to build their capacity on pro-women legislation before and after 18th amendment and Gender concepts. Under the project for strengthening district bar association Peshawar, this training was a component in building the capacity of practicing lawyers.
The training will contribute in educating the lawyers about the pro-women legislation in Pakistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, sensitizing the lawyers on gender concept and also will enable them to be active part law making under international treaties and conventions ratified by Pakistan. The participants of the training were engaged in practices of survivor centric approaches toward the litigants, myths and cultural practices of gender exclusion.
The training was conducted by a Trainer/Project Manager-Gender Equity Program, certified under the Gender Equity Program on the subjects of Gender, Pro-women Laws, International Obligations on Pakistan, and Family laws. "It was opportunity for me to talk about the issue, I am very sensitive about, with a group belonging to the most learned community of our society- and yet some of them believing the common myths of gender stereotyping" said Tahira Kaleem, Trainer and Project Manager of Gender Equity Program.

"This kind of training is needed for all the lawyers to become aware of the socio-cultural stereotypes and also to refresh the knowledge of Human Rights and Gender which they have studied years ago". Lawyer-District Bar Association Peshawar The training was learner centric and very participatory, involving the trainees in different simulation and activities to learn by performance, also the participants were given full freedom of expressing their view regarding different concepts gender, violence and Human Rights.
