Tariq Fatemi, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, on Monday briefed ambassadors of OIC member states, based in Islamabad, on grave human rights violations in Indian occupied Kashmir (IoK). In a statement issued here, the Foreign Office said that Fatemi conveyed Pakistan's serious concern over continued killings and blatant human rights violations in IoK, resulting from indiscriminate use of lethal force by Indian occupation forces.
He briefed the ambassadors over recent visit of Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC) Secretary General to Pakistan. During the visit, the Secretary General had expressed deep concern over killing of innocent civilians and gross violations of human rights in IoK by Indian occupation troops.
While referring to exchange of letters of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif with UN Secretary General who offered to use his good offices to facilitate the dialogue, Fatemi highlighted Pakistan's commitment to resolve all outstanding issues, including Jammu and Kashmir dispute through dialogue and peaceful means.
He said Muslims of IoK looked towards their brethren in faith at that difficult and challenging time. He emphasised that in the spirit of solidarity and brotherhood the OIC countries should raise their voice and play their due role in ending bloodshed in IoK and ensuring the realisation of the right to self determination of the Kashmiri people in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions.
