The government has decided to send 22 parliamentarians as special envoys to 11 countries with the objective to highlight ongoing brutalities and human rights abuses committed by India in Indian held Kashmir.
Prime Minister has approved the summary and decided that Ijaz ul Haq and Malik Uzair will visit Belgium (Brussels), Khusro Bakhtiar and Alamdad Laleka to China, Ayesha Raza Farooq and Rana Muhammad Afzal Khan to France, Raza Hayat Hiraj, Junaid Anwar Chaudhary and Nawab Ali Wassan will visit to Russia, Maulana Fazal ur Rehman, Major Tahir Iqbal (retd) and Muhammad Afzal Khokhar to Saudi Arabia, Mohsin Shah Nawaz Ranjha and Malik Pervaiz to Turkey, Lieutenant General Abdul Qayyum (retd) and Qaiser Sheikh to UK, Mushahid Hussain Syed and Dr Shazra Mansab Ali Khan to US, Mushahid Hussain Syed and Dr Shazra Mansab Ali Khan UN (New York), Awais Leghari UN (Geneva) and Abdul Rehman Kanju to South Africa as special envoys of the government to brief on Indian atrocities as well as human right abuses in occupied Kashmir.
The Prime Minister stated that he has decided to send these parliamentarians for fighting the Kashmir cause in different countries and these special envoys will carry prayers of the Kashmiri people across the Line of Control, mandate of the Parliament and support from the government, he added. "I am standing behind these special envoys to ensure their toil for highlighting the Kashmir Cause resonates across the world so that I can shake the collective conscience of the international community during my address at the UN this September," the PM said.
Nawaz Sharif stated that Pakistan will remind the United Nations of its long-held promise of self determination to the Kashmiri people and make it clear to India that it was India that approached the UN several decades back on Kashmir dispute but is not fulfilling its promise. Generations after generations of Kashmiris have seen only broken pledges and ruthless oppression, the Prime Minister said.
He emphasized that this anniversary of the UN ought to be a catalyst spurring the body into action. The Kashmir dispute is the most persistent failure of the United Nations; the United Nations must establish its relevance, the Prime Minister added. We cannot relent from the Kashmir Cause by any stretch of imagination, the Prime Minister reiterated.
