PPP coordination bodies finalise new party setup in Punjab

The Co-ordination committees of Pakistan Peoples' Party have finalised new party set up in Punjab by finalising the names for top party slots at the provincial, divisional and district level. "Names for the Central and South Punjab have been forwarded to the party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for a formal announcement in mid-September," said party sources.
The co-ordination committees were due to finalise the list by 31st July but it was extended to 31st of August because of the month of Ramadan. The Central Punjab Committee was consisted of Raja Pervez Ashraf, Rana Farooq Saeed, Chaudhry Manzoor Ahmed, Nadeem Asghar Kaira and Nadeem Afzal Chan. Another similar co-ordination committee was constituted for South Punjab to select party leadership ahead of 2018 general elections. Reliable party sources revealed that an important slot of the party would also be allotted to a family member of former party President in Punjab Manzoor Wattoo either at the divisional or the district level. "Since Wattoo has served the party at a very crucial time therefore the party has decided to acknowledge it by taking his family member on board," they added.
According to the party's close circles, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Nadeem Afzal Chan and Rana Farooq Saeed are strong candidates for the party top slots in the central Punjab.
He has served the party as a member of Peoples' Students Federation, elected twice for the National Assembly and once for the provincial assembly. However, Rana Farooq Saeed is leading the frontrunners. He has served as a Federal Minister for Textile Industry during the last regime of party. He had also got elected Qasim Zia for the provincial assembly after vacating his seat in 2008 general elections.
So far as the president ship of South Punjab, Makhdoom Ahmed Mahmood is still considered to be a strong candidate. Aurangzeb Burki and Naveed Chaudhry are contesting for the president ship of PPP Lahore, the sources added. According to the party sources, the provincial party set up was divided in two groups, namely Bilawal group and Faryal Talpur group. Each group is claiming its triumph in the reorganisation move of the party, which would be announced by 15th of September. Meanwhile, the party sources said the party Chairman is set to launch anti-government campaign next month, which would be in full swing in the month of October after the party set up is in place countrywide.
