Jamaat-i-Islami Saturday challenged the objection raised by Registrar Office on a plea of JI Chief Sirajul Haq seeking the court directives to the federal government to initiate an inquiry into Panama Leaks. On August 24, making the Federation of Pakistan respondent through Ministry Parliamentary Affairs, JI Ameer Sirajul Haq filed the plea under Article 184(3) of the Constitution, without mentioning the name of any politician or businessman involved in establishing offshore companies.
On August 27, returning the petition with original paper books, the Registrar office of the Supreme Court informed the Advocate on Record (AoR) Chaudhry Akhtar Ali that the petitioner has not approached any other appropriate forum available to him under the law for a remedy so the plea is not entertainable.
Filing the appeal against the Registrar's objections in the matter under Order V Rule 3 of the Supreme Court Rules 1980, the court was informed about the inability of a high court on the grounds of jurisdiction to hear the instant matter. The petitioner submitted it was the major reason to avoid filing such petition before any high court, adding that the apex court is the only court which is empowered to take action against persons of any area of Pakistan so the matter in hand may be entertained in the large interest of justice.
