The issue of Kashmir and the ongoing Indian security forces brutality against Kashmiris would dominate Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's address to the 71th session of United Nations General Assembly in New York. According to official sources, the PM would leave for the US on September 15, to attend the UN General Assembly session which is scheduled to open on September 13, at the UN headquarters in New York.
As per a tentative schedule, the PM will have a six-hour stopover in Denmark, where he will meet Danish leaders, before resuming his journey to New York and return to the country on September 24. In his address to the UN General Assembly, the sources said that the Prime Minister would particularly call upon the international community to take notice of the blatant human rights violations by the Indian security forces against Kashmiri people in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
He would emphasize the need for solution of Kashmir dispute in the light of numerous UN Security Council resolutions, besides presenting Pakistan's stated position on various international and regional issues at the UN platform. To sensitize the world community regarding Indian atrocities in Kashmir, the Prime Minister, earlier this month, sent letters to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon, and UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Prince Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein, urging efforts to end the persistent and egregious violation of the basic human rights of the Kashmiri people and also to implement UN Security Council Resolutions, which provide for self determination of the Kashmiri people through a fair and impartial plebiscite under the aspiration of the UN.
Pakistan, according to sources, is working on a dossier comprised evidence of Indian spy agency RAW's involvement in terrorists activities in the wake of confessional statement by Kulbhushun Yadev, a serving Indian navy officer arrested by security forces in Balochistan in March this year. They said that the dossier would separately be shared with international community by the visiting Nawaz Sharif led Pakistani delegation to the UN which would also include Prime Minister's Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister would also share with world leaders the progress Pakistan has made so far in its counter-terrorism operations and recount the sacrifices rendered by the people and security forces. The sources said that the Prime Minister, in his address, would also reassure the world community of Pakistan's sincere efforts to facilitate the Afghan led and Afghan owned reconciliation process to bring peace in war-torn Afghanistan.
