To enhance cooperation and boost collaboration in various areas of technical and vocational sector, a meeting was held with a Chinese delegation from Tianjin Development and Reform Commission, China under the chairmanship of the Executive Director NAVTTC, Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema at NAVTTC HQs today.
The delegation comprised Fan Zhiyong, Deputy Division Chief, Zhang Yuzhou, Director of Engineering Training Center, Li Wenjia, Deputy Division Chief of Foreign Affairs office, and Zeng Hui. Zulfiqar Cheema briefed the delegation about the recent initiatives taken by NAVTTC to introduce reforms in the current TVET system of Pakistan. The Executive Director said that the growing population of youth is the most valuable asset of Pakistan and the need is to polish their skills in various vocational fields so that they contribute towards the sustainable development of the country. He urged the two countries should enhance their collaboration to reboot the TVET system in Pakistan.
The executive director emphasized that the CPEC can be a fate changer and will guarantee development and prosperity of the people of Pakistan. He said that Pakistan has always cherished its friendly ties with China and now CPEC is going to turn this friendship into a strategic economic partnership.
The delegation praised the steps taken by NAVTTC to boost the TVET sector of Pakistan and assured their full cooperation in this regard. The delegation also visited National Training Bureau (NTB) and it was mutually agreed that NTB will be transformed into a Center of Excellence of international standard. It was decided that in the first phase, focus would be on the up-gradation of labs including electrician, computer programming and machinery so that the trained youth are in a better position to secure employment in different projects of CPEC. On this occasion, Cheema said that initially five thousand young men and women would be trained at National Training Bureau and their number will be increased to ten thousand soon.-PR
