The Karachi Port handled 107,117 tonnes of cargo comprising 86,984 tonnes of import cargo and 20,133 tonnes of export cargo including 3,970 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday The total import cargo of 86,984 tonnes comprised of 29,389 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,561 tonnes of general cargo; 25,473 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 17,025 tonnes of coal; 6,026 tonnes of palm kernal expeller; 2,422 tonnes of DAP and 30,561 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. The total export cargo of 20,133 tonnes comprised of 17,753 tonnes of containerised cargo and 2,380 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 3,970 containers comprising of 1,859 containers import and 2,111 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday. The break-up of imported containers shows 678 of 20's and 550 of 40's loaded while 23 of 20's and 29 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 282 of 20's and 512 of 40's loaded containers while 187 of 20's and 309 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely MSC Imma, OOCL California, Seadream, Ebony Ray and Bao Tong carrying containers, oil tanker and coal respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were seven vessels viz. Batam Trader, Vecchio Bridge, Cosco Wellington, Cosco Haifa, Chemroad Queen, Champion Tern and Theotokos carrying containers, oil tankers and fertiliser respectively currently at the berths.
There were two ships namely Batam Trader and Chemroad Queen carrying containers and oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday, while four ships namely Favorita, FPMC-22, Champion Tern and Han Ren carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively are expected to sail on Friday. There was one vessel viz. A Idefix carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday while three vessels viz. Hyundai Bangkok, Najran and King Success carrying containers and steel respectively are due to arrive on Friday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 94,266 tonnes comprising 63,068 tonnes of import cargo and 31,198 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 1,872 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 63,068 tonnes includes 37,947 tonnes of furnace oil; 5,696 tonnes of LPG; 2,260 tonnes of project cargo; 12,800 tonnes of coal and 4,370 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo 31,198 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 1,872 containers comprising of 230 containers import and 1,642 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday. There were two ships namely CV CMA CGM Thames and MT Karachi carrying containers and furnace oil sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while two more ships namely MT Gas Lion and MT Mu Dan Song carrying LPG and general cargo are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of seven vessels viz. CV Maersk Kinloss, CV CMA CGM Thames, MV Bao Tong, MV Mu Dan Song, MT White Purl, MT Gas Lion and MT Karachi currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, general cargo, LPG and furnace oil during the last 24 hours. As many as seven ships namely CV Mehun, MV Johar Express, MV Clipper Helen, MT White Purl, MT Gas Lion, MT Al-Salam-II, MT Bahra, MT Saverna Kaeri and Genie carrying containers, cement, chemical, diesel oil and furnace oil at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Thursday.
There were three vessels viz. CV Mehun, MV Tian Shan and MT Genie carrying containers, project cargo and furnace oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid respectively on Thursday. There were seven ships namely CV MSC Silvana, CV MSC Bilbao, MV BBC Kimberley, MV Ping An Song, MT Tahiti-One, MT Tomson Gas and MT Qubaa carrying containers, project cargo, soyabean seeds, LPG and furnace oil due to arrive on Thursday.
