A Senator belonging to Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) Taj Mohammad Afridi topped the list of parliamentarians for the second consecutive year as the highest taxpayer with Rs 41,712,425 tax payment followed by PTI''s Jahangir Tareen Rs 37,607,528 during tax year 2015, according to parliamentarians tax directory released by Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Friday.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, according to the directory, paid Rs 2,195,341 during tax year 2015 as compared to Rs 2,611037 in tax year 2014, reflecting a decrease of Rs 415,696. PTI chief Imran Khan paid Rs 76,244 during tax year 2015 as compared to Rs 218,237 in 2014, showing a decrease of Rs 141,993. Taj Afridi, who paid highest Rs 41,712,425 in tax year 2015 was also on top of the parliamentarians list with a tax payment of Rs 24,007,558 during tax year 2014. Finance Minister Ishaq Dar paid Rs 3,913,778 during tax year 2015 as compared to Rs 2,286,702 in tax year 2014, reflecting an increase of Rs 1,627,076.
As per the tax payments of other federal cabinet members, Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Asif paid Rs 466,630, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan Rs 847,662, Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanveer Hussain Rs 402,628, Minister for Information Broadcasting Pervaiz Rasheed Rs 106,105, Minister for Law Zahid Hamid Rs 70,216, Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi Rs 2,138,530, Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique Rs 2,957,801, Minster for SAFRON Lieutenant General Abdul Qadir Baloch (Retd) Rs 279,535, Minister for Planning, Development and Reform Ahsan Iqbal Rs 106,897, Minister for Inter-Provincial Co-ordination Riaz Hussain Pirzada Rs 316,740, Minister for Kashmir & Gilgit-Baltistan Affairs Barjees Tahir Rs 267,786, Minister for National Food Security and Research Sakandar Hayyat Bosan paid Rs 766,495, Minister for Industries and Production Ghulam Murtaza Jatoi Rs 268,538, Minister for Human Rights Kamran Michael Rs 191,018, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab Ahmed Rs 991,254, Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Pir Sadruddin Shah Rs 260,312, and Minister for Housing and Works Akram Khan Durrani deposited Rs 86,196.
Names of two federal ministers including Minister for Commerce Khurram Dastgir Khan and Minister for Ports and Shipping Hasil Khan Bizenjo were missing in the tax directory.
Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq paid Rs 1,373,015, leader of the opposition in National Assembly Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah deposited Rs 113,740 taxes during tax year 2015 while Chairman Senate Mian Raza Rabbani paid Rs 730,107, leader of the opposition in Senate Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan paid Rs 24,931,890, and leader of the House in Senate Raja Zafar-ul-Haq deposited Rs 108,524 tax during tax year 2015.
Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif deposited Rs 7,609,060 and his son Hamza Shehbaz paid Rs 6,330,632 during tax year 2015. Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunication Anusha Rahman paid Rs 78,534, Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development Division Dr Tariq Fazal Chudhary Rs 34,662, Minister of State for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali deposited Rs 128,440, Minister of State for National Health Services, Regulations and Co-ordination Saira Afzal Tarar Rs 92,382, Minister of State for Religious Affairs and Inter-faith Harmony Pir Amin ul Hasnat Rs 116,771, and Minister of State for Federal Education and Professional Training Mohammad Baligh ur Rehman Rs 688,567.
JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman paid a total of Rs 49,902, PKMAP chairman Mehmood Khan Achakzai Rs 17,331, MQM''s Dr Farooq Sattar Rs 67,639, Qaumi Wattan Party''s chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao paid Rs 1,723,273, Sheikh Rashid Ahmed deposited Rs 312,383, PTI''s Shah Mahmood Qureshi Rs 1,469,068 and Asad Umar Rs 4,260,246, PPP''s Faryal Talpur Rs 2,267,735, Munawar Talpur Rs 57,199, Syed Naveed Qamar Rs 49,902, Dr Fehmida Mirza Rs 69,606, Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Finance Saleem Mandviwalla paid Rs 1,115,513 and Chairman National Assembly Standing Committee on Finance Qaiser Ahmad Sheikh deposited Rs 500,550.
PML-N MNAs Daniyal Aziz deposited Rs 421,928, Talal Chaudhary Rs 47,081, Captain. Mohammad Safdar (Retd) Rs 49,902, Zafarullah Khan Jamali deposited Rs 34,662. ANP''s Senator Ilyas Ahmad Bilour deposited Rs 639,960 and the party''s MNA Haji Ghulam Ahmad Bilour Rs 34,662. Former Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah paid Rs 314,908, while Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhawa Pervaiz Khattak deposited Rs 766,480 and Chief Minister Balochistan Sardar Sanaullah Zehri paid Rs 1,283,774 tax during tax year 2015.
